Margaret (“Peggy”) O’Brien began her career as a corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions lawyer on Wall Street. She joined Marsh McLennan as a transactional lawyer across its various business but became increasingly involved with its emerging health and benefits business within the Mercer, a business of Marsh McLennan. In addition to her involvement with acquisitions and divestitures, she participates in digital initiatives and new product development. She is involved from inception and remains involved throughout the product’s life cycle. She has been and is a member of team(s) that have launched and are launching new businesses within Mercer health ecosystem. She is also involved in the structuring of Mercer’s strategic alliances with partners in the health and benefits space. In 2020 her remit was expanded to include Marsh McLennan’s international health and benefits business. She is a member of the Mercer Marsh Benefits Global Leadership team and the Health Benefits Products Council.
Margaret is passionate about mentoring and participates in both informal mentoring as well as formal mentorship programs. Her mentorship experience has ranged from informally mentoring new business and legal colleagues at Marsh McLennan, to mentoring high-potential first-generation high school juniors who are applying to colleges, to mentoring women entrepreneurs through the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.
