Entrepreneurship for Impact
Brendan Somerville (B’11)
Co-Founder & COO, Oishii
Brendan Somerville is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Oishii, an innovative indoor vertical farming company transforming the traditional agriculture industry.
Brendan is passionate about applying technology to create systemic change in climate-resilient agriculture. As a military intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, he became fascinated – and deeply concerned – with how food security and climate’s impact on crop yield and quality could be a driver of global conflict. This led Brendan to co-found agriculture businesses in East Africa, working predominantly with smallholder farmers growing coffee and avocados, and to pursue indoor vertical farming, a technology that enables year-round, pesticide-free, local food production at consistent quantity and quality.
Brendan is a graduate of Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business.
