This year, the Georgetown GEA will be heading to LA to host a panel celebrating Georgetown entrepreneurship. Georgetown alumni have undoubtedly become a major force as entrepreneurs, launching successful businesses and nonprofits and playing influential roles in the venture capital community. Hear from Peter Mellen (C'89, MBA'98), president of the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance, and Jeff Reid, founding director of the StartupHoyas on campus initiative, along with a diverse panel of alumni entrepreneurs representing influential businesses such as Maker Studies and Realty Mogul, as they discuss their individual stories of successes and failures and the importance of social entrepreneurship. Panelists will outline what they look for in an early-stage company, provide advice to budding entrepreneurs and explore the impact Georgetown has had on their respective careers. The panel will be moderated by accomplished entrepreneur and business leader Alan Gould (F’83), CEO of uSamp and founder and former co-CEO of IAG Research. Additional panelists include Chris Kelly (C'91), founder of Kelly Investments and former general counsel and chief privacy officer of Facebook; Sonal Shah, executive director of the Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation at Georgetown University; Ellen Wheeler (C'04), principal at Greycroft Partners; and Zane Vella (F’91), CEO at Watchwith.
